I describe myself as a straight shooter, a keen gardener, a lover of the outdoors, and a tradesperson working for a family business that fosters a connection to Tasmanian history, knowledge and needs.
Working in thousands of Tasmanian homes I’ve learnt a lot. I am always talking to customers about history, politics, current social issues — you name it I’ve had the conversation. More often than not the majority of Tasmanians believe in the future we deserve. This divisive attitude in politics has created factions within our communities.
I live by the old folk story of stone soup: if we all come together we can make great things happen, whether in the community or in parliament. I care greatly about our communities and I am sick of seeing regional Tasmania put at a disadvantage.
Year-round, not just at election time
I am not just showing up for elections. I work year-round in my volunteer roles — Deputy Chair of Derwent Valley Railway, President of Shooters Union Tasmania — and in the family trade. When people contact me asking for help, well beyond the Valley and well beyond this state, I will do my best for anyone who asks.
I stood in 2022 and I fell short. That did not switch anything off. I cannot walk past something being done badly and pretend I did not see it. If it can be done better, I will say so, and I will keep at it until someone has to deal with it. I will advocate as hard as I can for the people who have lost their voice. The current contest is on the Derwent Valley Council election page.
I will not be bought
I will not be bought. I will not sell out. I will fight for what is right. You can call me a greeny for wanting to protect the environment. You can call me a right-wing nut for hunting for food. You can call me a Liberal for wanting strong small businesses. The one thing you cannot call me is LABORious. They do not even know what they are. I will do what is right for Tasmania first.
